Surgical Therapy

Sometimes, teeth become trapped in the bone, and fail to erupt through the gums. In conjunction with an orthodontist, the teeth are surgically exposed and a bracket can be fixed to the teeth to bring into proper alignment.

After careful evaluation and planning, the gums are lifted, a bracket is placed on the impacted tooth and, sometimes, some bone is removed to create a channel for the tooth to erupt through. Soon after after, the orthodontist can attach a wire to begin pulling the teeth into position.
